Gun control will get a vote after all. A bipartisan pair of senators announced a deal that expands background checks to all commercial firearm sales, including those at gun shows and over the Internet, but excludes gifts and transfers to family members. It’s a less ambitious change than President Obama originally wanted, but the agreement, reached by Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin and Republican Sen. Pat Toomey, appears to have enough support to bring gun control to the Senate floor. Democratic leaders say they will allow both parties to introduce more amendments when debate begins tomorrow.
