Big Bird can’t seem to stay out of the spotlight these days. After the presidential campaign turned him into a viral meme, superstorm Sandy is wreaking havoc on his nest on Sesame Street this Friday. The show’s hurricane special, “Sesame Street Gets Through a Storm,” which first aired in September 2001 as a five-part series and again in 2005 after Hurricane Katrina, is coming back to educate kids in the wake of Sandy. The tweaked episode hones in on Big Bird’s attempt to repair his destroyed nest with the help of Elmo and other Sesame Street pals.
