Clearly fans nationwide have not yet gotten their fill of the adventures of Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte, and Samantha, the merry band of city-dwellers who buy and drink various brightly colored things. Sex and the City 2 made $3 million from 12:01 a.m. showings Thursday morning in 2,000 locations. That’s 20 percent more than the first SATC flick’s opening night haul; the sequel is expected to bring in $60 million over the weekend. The 2008 film earned $62.6 million its first weekend, and $152.6 million overall in the U.S.
