Shark Charities Getting Donations Because Trump Hates Them

A number of donations have been made in the president’s name.

Shark-related nonprofits are seeing an uptick in donations after the publication of Stormy Daniels’ 2011 recounting of her alleged affair with Donald Trump. An InTouch interview quoted the now-president as saying, “I donate to all these charities and I would never donate to any charity that helps sharks. I hope all the sharks die.” According to Cynthia Wilgren of the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy, the charity has been “receiving donations in Trump’s name since the story was published” and from many first-time donors as well. While conservationists like Capt. Paul Watson of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society view the president as “ignorant” on the shark issue, he admitted “[a]nything that focuses attention on the plight of sharks worldwide is valuable, so I guess in that way the president did good service.”
