Showtime will not approve an Oliver Stone drama, currently in development, unless the Weinstein Co. is removed as a producer. According to the Associated Press, the premium cable network said Friday that while it had originally planned to partner with major production company for Stone’s Guantanamo, in light of the many sexual-harassment and assault allegations against its recently fired chairman Harvey Weinstein, “we do not intend to move forward with the current configuration of the project and are exploring our options.” Stone, too, indicated, via a Facebook post, that he would no longer continue with the project unless the Weinstein Co. dropped out.
