Six people were arrested Wednesday night for an LAX Airport baggage theft ring, in which thousands of items were stolen in one of the biggest property heists in airport history. Up to 25 people are suspected to have taken part in a scheme over multiple months in which workers stole expensive items out of bags. “Basically everything of value—be it electronics, jewelry and items that could be stolen in seconds, would be removed from bags," LAX Police Chief Pat Gannon said. Many of the items ended up being sold on Craigslist. Gannon also said that there was a 37 percent increase in thefts in 2013.
