The Smithsonian has pulled a video depicting Jesus Christ covered in ants from an exhibit after Republican politicians, including House top dogs John Boehner and Eric Cantor, complained. “It was not the museum’s intention to offend,” said Martin Sullivan, director of the National Portrait Gallery. “We are removing the video today.” The artist intended the video, called “A Fire in My Bell,” as commentary on the AIDS epidemic, but Cantor called it “an outrageous attempt to offend Christians during the Christmas season.”
