As we learned during their marathon 25-minute showdown on CNN this past week, Jake Tapper and Kellyanne Conway have a complicated relationship. But it got a whole lot more complicated on Saturday Night Live.
After denying her a spot on his show due to very real “credibility issues,” Beck Bennett’s Tapper came home to find Kate McKinnon’s Conway in a nightgown in the dark waiting for him.
“I just want to be a part of the news, Jake,” she told him when he asked what she’s doing there. “What was I supposed to do? You weren't answering my calls, you changed your number. I'm not going to be ignored, Jake!”
He explained that he can’t have her on because she “made up a massacre,” but nevertheless, she persisted. “But I miss the news,” she said. “I want to get mic’d. I want to feel that hot, black mic pressed up against my skin.” As she licked his cheek, she pleaded, “Let me taste the news on your face, Jake.”
“Kellyanne, no!” Tapper said, pushing her away. “We can't have you on TV if you are just going to keep lying!” Soon, she was pulling out a knife and threatening to kill the CNN anchor.
“You need to reach inside me, and you need to pull out the truth,” she told him. And she did not appreciate it when he offered her a spot on Carol Costello’s show instead. “Do I look like Kayleigh McEnany to you?” she asked. The sketch ended with Conway seemingly falling to her death out of his apartment window before coming back to life.
“I’m fine, but I do only have three lives left,” she told Tapper. “See you on the news!”
