Snoop Dogg Now Snoop Lion

He’s now The Rapper Formerly Known As Snoop Dogg. Or Snoop Lion, to be precise. Snoop Dogg, promoting his soon-to-be released reggae album Reincarnated, says that when he was in Jamaica recording it last February he underwent a transformation to Rastafarianism. He’s changing his moniker, switching his genre from rap to reggae, and hoping to make music that might give him “a chance to perform for kids and grandkids.” Snoop may have been “called by the spirit” to sing reggae, as he put it, but he’s not leaving his business dealings to the supernatural. He hired superstar producer Diplo for his new album, brought on a trio of hit songwriters, and had a documentary crew follow him around as he transformed from a Dogg to a Lion.
