South Africa’s last white president, F.W. de Klerk, the co-winner of the 1993 Nobel Peace Prize with Nelson Mandela, was hospitalized on Tuesday to install a pacemaker. De Klerk, 77, is expected to be discharged within 24 hours. Mandela, 94, has been hospitalized for the past three weeks for a lung infection.
