So now North Korea isn’t the only country on the Korean Peninsula that likes to brag about weapons. In a military parade Tuesday, South Korea put on public display two of its own missiles that are designed to hit North Korea’s weapons and long-range missiles. The ballistic Hyeonmu-2 has a range of 190 miles, and the cruise missile Hyeonmu-3 has a range of 620 miles—and both have been deployed since North Korea’s February nuclear test. U.S. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel, on a four-day visit to South Korea, watched the parade from a podium at a military airfield just south of Seoul. South Korea reached a deal last year with the U.S. to expand the range of its missiles.
