The media director for late Missouri state auditor and gubernatorial frontrunner Tom Schweich, who killed himself last month, was found dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound Sunday. Spence Jackson had become known as a prominent critic of the state’s Republican chairman, who has been fingered as the source of a whisper campaign that Schweich was Jewish, and called for his resignation. Officials say there was no sign of forced entry in his home.
