Steele’s RNC Short on Cash

Election 2010

Has just $5M for final push.

This must mean fewer bondage-club excursions around the office: Michael Steele’s Republican National Committee raised only $5.5 million in July—just half of its Democratic counterpart the DNC’s $11.6 million. Republican strategist Ed Rollins calls the RNC’s number “disastrous” and tells The Wall Street Journal it could cost Republicans some seats in the fall. It may not, however, be so dire: The National Republican Congressional Committee out-raised the DSCC $8.5 million to $6.2 million, while the National Republican Senatorial Committee’s $4.2 million nearly matched the DSCC’s $4.4 million.
