The 4,500 cruise-ship passengers who spent four days at sea without electricity have returned to San Diego, California. The ship, the Carnival Splendor, lost power after a fire in the engine room on Monday. Consequently, passengers were without air conditioning, hot food, and hot water. “We’re eating spoiled turkey sandwiches and warm milk and warm yogurt,” one passenger complained. Another passenger said that toilets weren’t flushing. The upside? Carnival offerd free drinks. “Last night, everybody was partying,” said one passenger.
