Study: Red Wine Isn’t That Healthy

Beliefs about its benefits were just disproven.

Your wine habit just got a lot more guilt-inducing. For years, a magic ingredient found in red wine called resveratol has been hailed as a preventative measure against heart disease, cancer, and aging. But a new study in the Journal of American Medicine found that the chemical doesn't actually have any long-term benefits. Tracking 783 Italians over 11 years, researchers failed to find a positive correlation between wine consumption and health or lifespan.
