A girl who appeared to be as young as 7 blew herself up in Nigeria, killing herself and five other people on Sunday. “So far, five people were killed with the girl while 19 others have been taken to hospital for injuries,” a local vigilante leader told The Guardian. Witnesses say the girl detonated her explosive device at a checkpoint for a cellphone market in northeast Nigeria, according to UPI. While there have been a string of recent suicide attacks in Nigeria, this most recent one stands out because the bomber is believed to be so young. Boko Haram has not claimed responsibility for the attack, but there have been reports suggesting the terrorist group has used kidnapped young girls as suicide bombers. Boko Haram abducted more than 200 schoolgirls last April from a single school, but many have yet to be rescued and returned home.
