Multiple suicide bombings killed 46 people in Afghanistan on Tuesday. Three attacks killed at least 28 people in the relatively peaceful city of Zaranj in southwestern Afghanistan, while a separate bombing of a bazaar in northern Afghanistan claimed 18 lives. The first explosion in Zaranj occurred in the city’s center at the same time that police shot at insurgents in other parts of the city, accidentally setting off their explosives. Officials believe the Taliban is behind the attacks. The day has been the deadliest for Afghan civilians this year.
