Supreme Court Divided on Abortion Case

The Supreme Court appeared evenly divided Wednesday during its consideration of an abortion case involving a challenge to Texas law imposing strict regulations on clinics and abortion doctors. Justice Anthony Kennedy did not indicate how he would rule, but suggested at one point that the case should be sent back down to lower courts—a decision that could delay resolution to the key abortion case for years. Given Antonin Scalia's death, the Supreme Court could end up with a 4-4 split decision on the highly anticipated ruling.
