Supreme Court to Consider Mandatory Union Fees for Second Time

The U.S. Supreme Court will consider whether government employees can refuse to pay union fees, Bloomberg reported Thursday. The case deadlocked the court when it first visited the issue in March 2016. Critics argue that a 1977 ruling allowing public-sector unions demand fees from non-member workers violates the First Amendment right to free association.
