Survivor producer Bruce Beresford-Redman has proclaimed his innocence in the his wife’s death, breaking his silence from a Mexican prison in an interview airing Saturday night on 48 Hours Mystery. “Everyone seems to have decided that I killed my wife,” Beresford-Redman said. “I didn’t kill my wife—I really didn’t.” Beresford-Redman and Monica Burgos were vacationing in Cancun with their two children in April 2010 when her body was found naked and beaten to death in a sewer. Prosecutors in Mexico claim the couple had a violent fight before he dumped her body, and they accuse him of fleeing to the U.S. to avoid being caught. Beresford-Redman was arrested in November 2010 and extradited to Mexico. Beresford-Redman said he has provided evidence to the Mexican authorities that will exonerate him, but he is being forced to stand trial nonetheless.
