Friends and colleagues of a British aid worker and former war reporter who was found dead in Istanbul's airport on Saturday are casting doubts on reports of the circumstances surrounding her death. Jacqueline Sutton, a 50-year-old who serves as the Iraq director coordinator for the Institute for War and Peace Reporting (IWPR), reportedly missed her connecting flight at Ataturk Airport on Saturday. Multiple Turkish press outlets reported she become distraught at the cost of a new ticket and hung herself in the bathroom. IWPR Executive Director Anthony Borden said the account "doesn't make any sense," noting that Sutton had survived decades in conflict zones such as Kabul and Baghdad. Borden said IWPR was told that security camera footage that could track Sutton's movements "would not be forthcoming" because of a technical glitch. The Middle East and North Africa director of IWPR is planning to meet with Turkish and UK officials.
