The Swedish cartoonist who was the key speaker at the event in Copenhagen where a gunman opened fire says he refused to be intimidated. “I’m not going to let this attack scare me. I’m going to continue just like I always have,” says Lars Vilks, who has faced death threats since depicted the Prophet Muhammed as a dog in 2007. The terrorists, he added, “must realise their project is meaningless.” Vilks believes he was the main target of the attack, which left one dead and three injured.
