A Swedish doctor who kidnapped a woman after drugging her with laced strawberries and kept her in a soundproof bunker was sentenced Tuesday to 10 years in prison. Martin Trenneborg, 38, drove the woman to his country home while wearing a mask and then locked her away in a bunker he’d built in his yard. He was found guilty of kidnapping the woman and ordered to pay her $21,000 in damages. In a press statement, officials said Trenneborg intended to “force [her] to serve as girlfriend and future sex partner.” His lawyer said last month that he “desperately wanted a girlfriend.” The woman, who was held for six days, told police that she feared she’d be tortured or killed.
