Syria Slammed for Civilian Deaths

Human rights groups are hoping Syria's leaders will be tried for their brutal crackdown on protesters. Amnesty International said the government’s deadly siege in Talkalakh in May, when at least 27 civilians were reportedly killed by security forces, may have amounted to crimes against humanity. Meanwhile, the troops' attack in the city of Hama on Tuesday killed at least 22 people and left more than 80 wounded. Western powers have piled on condemnation on the Syrian government, but before the International Criminal Court would try anyone the United Nations Security Council must first refer the case to the court's prosecutor.
