Moner Mohammed Abusalha, who grew up as a basketball-obsessed teenager in Florida, drove a truck filled with explosives into a restaurant in northern Syria back in May. While U.S. authorities at the time said they knew little about the young man, it turns out they also didn't know that Abusalha had returned to the U.S. for several months after getting training from an extremist group in Syria. Abusalha, 22, is an example of the troubles for Western governments in identifying those in the West who have been radicalized and trained by Islamic militants in Syria.
