Damascus is under siege—again. After reports of the heaviest fighting to erupt in Syria’s capital since the uprising began, violence was reported again Monday. Meanwhile, Syria declared Morocco’s ambassador “persona non grata.” Sunday, Assad’s government denied using “heavy” artillery to attack a farming village—the U.N. had reported that there was heavy destruction in the town. Rebels said the assault in Damascus was the first time security forces had attacked rebels in the capital.
