Invigorated by events in Libya, Syrian protesters took the streets to warn Bashar al-Assad that he would share the fate of Moammar Gaddafi if he doesn't leave power. But Assad responded as he has for the past several months: opening fire on the demonstrators. Activists say at least 14 people were killed. The U.N. Estimates more than 3,000 people have been killed since protests began. Recently, the Syrian opposition has taken cues from the Libyan rebels, forming a national council like Libya's National Transitional Council in an attempt to form a unified front against Assad. Many also say they are beginning to see the limits of peaceful demonstrations. "Gaddafi is finished. It is your turn now Bashar!" shouted protesters.
