If there’s one nation that isn’t afraid of a warning from President Obama, it’s Syria. Syrian forces continued a string of brutal raids Sunday, storming homes in Deir al-Zor and villages near Hama. The attacks come after the bloodiest week since protesters rallied against President Bashar al-Assad six months ago. Government forces say they are battling gangs that have killed 500 of their men. Syrian Human Rights Organization Sawasiah estimates that 113 civilians were killed last week, and several activists were tortured in prison. Since March, an estimated 2,200 people have been killed by the government.
