Despite his 'Washington outsider' image.

Mitt Romney likes to say he’s a Washington outsider, boasting of his career in business, not politics, as reason enough for his electability. However, The New York Times reports, the Romney campaign is funded, advised, and defended against rivals by a virtual army of prominent Washington lobbyists. At the end of 2011, at least 294 registered lobbyists had donated to Mitt Romney. These lobbyists represent a variety of interests from the Canadian oil industry to defense contractors, but many of have worked closely with previous presidential campaigns.
