Google, eBay, and Amazon are among the latest tech heavyweights to rally behind Apple in its encryption battle with the FBI. Microsoft, Facebook, and Evernote were among the 14 major companies that filed a joint amicus brief Thursday, while Twitter, Airbnb, Reddit, and 13 other tech firms filed a separate brief. The companies argued that Apple should not be forced to help unlock an iPhone that belonged to one of the San Bernardino shooters. Earlier Thursday, a group of security experts also filed a brief outlining the risks that developing software for the FBI poses. Other briefs came from WordPress and Automattic as well as Intel. The court also received a brief from Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association as well as relatives of victims of the attack, who argued in favor of the government’s stance.
