Texas new strictest-in-the-nation abortion bill isn't going down without a fight: Senator Wendy Davis began a filibuster at 11 a.m. Tuesday morning to stop the legislation, which would force almost all abortion clinics in Texas to close. The bill, sponsored by a Republican doctor, is opposed by the state's medical association. During her filibuster, Davis called the measure a "raw abuse of power," and occasionally wiped away tears as she read testimony from women who would be affected by it. Davis plans to continue until midnight, the end of the Texas legislature's special session.
