#Texasattack Tweet Sent Before Shooting

A series of tweets were reportedly sent 15 minutes before news of the shooting the Draw Muhammad event in Garland, Texas. The account, dubbed Shariah Is Life, has since been suspended, but a tweet sent from the account included the hashtag #texasattack. The writer pledged to Amirul Mu’mineen, which is Arabic for “Commander of the Faithful,” before tweeting the words “May Allah accept us as mujahideen.” The account had previously posted a series of tweets supporting Islamic extremism, including the ISIS fighters. The profile picture includes an image of the late Yemeni-American Anwar al-Awlaki, the al Qaeda recruiter who was killed by a U.S. drone strike in 2011. The account also asked followers to follow an account under the name “AbuHussainAlBritani.” That account, which has also been suspended, tweeted, “The knives have been sharpened, soon we will come to your streets with death and slaughter,” before the shooting.
