Forget all the trendy Miami restaurants, the best food in this town can be found in Little Havana. There’s a wide variety of restaurants along Calle Ocho, from casual diners and takeout spots to more upscale establishments, like the legendary Versailles. We prefer the low key spots, where the eating is as cheap as it is delicious. Here’s a list of our favorites:

El Exquisito: A casual restaurant with a takeout window, that’s home to one of the best madianoche sandwiches we’ve ever had. They also have an excellent pork dish, and their Cuban coffee will absolutely light you up. It’s also very reasonably priced, as in a sandwich costs about $6.

Los Pinareños Fruteria: This is a famous fruit and vegetable stand is a true Calle Ocho landmark, and along with all the produce, Los Pinarenos also has excellent tamales and freshly squeezed juices. This is a Little Havana must visit.

El Cristo: You come to El Cristo to eat the seafood - fish empanadas, fish croquetas, grilled fish, you name it, they got it. This stuff is all fresh and delicious, and they serve a pretty excellent ropa vieja too.

Cubaocho Art Center: A bar and art gallery, owned by a Cuban immigrant who arrived in Florida in the 70’s with little more than some paintings he’d made. Now, Cubaocho is a cultural hub in Little Havana, showcasing local art and music. They also have a big bar in the front, from which you can drink a cold Cerveza Hatuey.
