A third of tablet mag’s staff gets the boot. A year and a half ago, News Corp. officially launched The Daily, the divisive digital newspaper for the iPad. The arguably bold experiment hasn’t been as successful as the company had hoped, however, and now the publisher is laying off 50 of its 170 employees. It’s being reported that employees covering the tablet mag’s editorial and sports page will be hit the hardest, as The Daily will be scaling back coverage of those areas to a skeleton crew.
