After its long and bumpy road to limited release, The Interview grossed over $1 million on Christmas, according to Sony Pictures. The film was shown at 320 theaters in the U.S. after major movie chains pulled out because of terror threats. “Considering the incredibly challenging circumstances, we are extremely grateful to the people all over the country who came out to experience The Interview on the first day of its unconventional release,” said Rory Bruer, Sony Pictures president of distribution, in a statement. The $44 million film was also released on Wednesday online via YouTube, Google Play and Sony’s website.
