The Spitzers Are Calling It Quits

The Spitzers are splitting up. More than five years after Silda Wall Spitzer decided to stand by her man during a prostitution scandal that killed his political career, she and former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer are breaking up. “We regret that our marital relationship has come to an end, and we have agreed not to make any other public statement on this subject,” a Spitzer spokeswoman said in a statement issued on the couple’s behalf, not confirming whether or not they’d official filed for divorce. Spitzer, who attempted a political comeback in a bid for New York City comptroller earlier this year, has been rumored to be dating a Democratic operative who worked on NYC Mayor-elect Bill de Blasio’s campaign.
