Daddy’s Home 2 and Murder on the Orient Express vied for second place, with both earning more than analysts had initially anticipated. The third film in the Thor franchise, which stars Chris Hemsworth, had the fifth-best second-weekend sales of the year and the 29th highest second weekend of all time. It made $211.6 million in its first few days, becoming the ninth highest domestic grosser of the year and the 12th consecutive Marvel Universe film to bring in more than $500 million worldwide.
