Sometimes reviews really don’t matter. Despite a 31 percent positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes, Clash of the Titans had a big debut over the holiday weekend, taking in $61.4 million—although the total was helped by higher prices for the 3-D film. Tyler Perry’s latest, Why Did I Get Married Too, is expected to top $30 million, his second highest debut ever (after Madea Goes to Jail). Miley Cyrus’ cryfest, The Last Song, based on the book by Nicholas Sparks, took in $16.2 million since Friday after opening midweek.
