Strong winds and flooding aren’t the only thing to look out for: Tornadoes embedded in Hurricane Irene have destroyed five homes in Tyrell County, North Carolina. NOAA has issued tornado warnings for several states along Hurricane Irene’s projected path. Watches are in place for parts of Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and New Jersey, effective until 8 p.m. tonight. The affected area runs between Norfolk, Va. and Atlantic City, N.J.
