Tornado funnels darkened the sky in the Dallas–Fort Worth area Tuesday, hurling trucks through the air, ripping the roofs off houses, and crumpling trailers. Southwest Airlines canceled dozens of flights and American Airlines grounded all planes coming in and out of Dallas after a twister was reported miles from the downtown area. The mayor of nearby Arlington signed a disaster declaration after “extensive damage” to homes in the city.
