HBO’s John Oliver has another notch in his belt. After getting FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler to declare he was not a dingo, it appears Oliver has now gotten the town of Saginaw, Michigan to announce it will get rid of its military vehicle. The vehicle, a 19-ton mine-resistant ambush protected (MRAP) vehicle, was featured on Sunday’s episode of Last Week Tonight on a segment about police militarization. The town received the vehicle free of charge from the military. On Monday, Saginaw County Sheriff William Federspiel claimed that he had made the decision to decommission the vehicle a month ago. Good timing.
