Eighteen people have been killed and dozens more are sick in the city of Faisalabad, Pakistan, after drinking contaminated alcohol. Alcohol consumption and property is legal only for non-Muslims in Pakistan, causing many people to illegally brew it at home. Illegal liquor is especially rampant during Ramadan, when all legal wine shops are closed. The victims are believed to be Muslim and Christian laborers attending a birthday party and another private event. The provincial governor has ordered an inquiry into the incident.
