“I somewhat do,” President Trump said Wednesday when asked whether he feels vindicated by House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes’s claim that the NSA surveilled his transition team. “I have seen intelligence reports that clearly show that the president-elect and his team were... monitored,” Nunes told the press little several hours earlier. “It had nothing to do with any criminal investigation.” The surveillance was not related to Russia, Nunes additionally said. Trump claimed earlier this month, in a series of tweets, that President Obama illegally wiretapped him during the 2016 campaign. However, despite the president’s self-styled “vindication,” Nunes indicated the alleged surveillance took place in November, December, and January—months after Trump claims it would have occurred—and he did not say the intercepted communications came from Trump Tower.
