Trump Picks Alex Azar for Health and Human Services Secretary

President Trump announced Monday that he is nominating Alex Azar to succeed Tom Price as Health and Human Services secretary. Price stepped down in September after it was revealed that he repeatedly took trips on government and private jets, costing taxpayers more than $1 million. “Happy to announce, I am nominating Alex Azar to be the next HHS Secretary. He will be a star for better healthcare and lower drug prices!,” Trump tweeted. Azar worked in HHS during the Bush administration and served as the department’s general counsel from 2001 to 2005, before assuming the role of deputy secretary for two years.
