Trump’s secretary of commerce on Monday referred to the U.S. strike on a Syrian airbase as “after-dinner entertainment” for him and other guests at Mar-a-Lago the night of April 6. Speaking Monday at the Milken Institute Global Conference in Los Angeles, Sec. Wilbur Ross fondly recalled the events at President Trump’s resort the night the U.S. military fired 59 Tomahawk missiles at one of the Syrian government’s strategic airbases. “Just as dessert was being served, the president explained to Mr. Xi he had something he wanted to tell him, which was the launching of 59 missiles into Syria,” Ross said, according to Variety. “It was in lieu of after-dinner entertainment.” The crowd reportedly laughed, and Ross added: “The thing was, it didn’t cost the president anything to have that entertainment.”
