Turkey is denying that it was involved in an alleged plot to kidnap a Muslim cleric from the U.S. and extradite him to Turkey in exchange for $15 million. The Wall Street Journal reported last week that special counsel Robert Mueller is looking into whether national security adviser Michael Flynn tried to orchestrate the removal of Fethullah Gulen from his compound in Pennsylvania. In a statement, the country’s embassy in Washington, D.C. called the WSJ report “ludicrous and groundless.” Turkey has blamed Gulen for the failed coup attempt last year, and has sought his extradition to Turkey.
