Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Sunday that his country's armed forces shot down a Syrian military jet that violated Turkish airspace. The incident happened in an area where the Syrian government has been at war with rebel groups over control of a border crossing. "Our response will be heavy if you violate our airspace," Erdogan told Syria. More than 100,000 people have been killed in the Syrian civil war.
