At least two people were killed and another four critically injured Thursday when a series of tornados hit Atoka County, Oklahoma. An Atoka County dispatcher said there was “massive” damage and several houses and a school were reported destroyed. “There are people trapped in shelters, people trapped in their homes,” the dispatcher said. A severe cluster of twisters—at least four were reported—hit the southeastern portion of the state around 8 p.m. on Thursday. Northeast Texas, southwest Missouri and western Arkansas all were also under “moderate risk” of heavy weather Thursday. And on Friday, Eastern Mississippi, south central Tennessee and western Alabama were all considered “at risk” for a tornado, the National Weather Service said.
