Christmas is going to be canceled in some households this year: Unemployment benefits begin running out for two million in Americans on Wednesday. That’s because Congressional Republicans refuse to extend them if it adds to the federal deficit. Previously, they had been extended for 99 weeks until the end of this month. The average weekly unemployment check is $302.90.
