Scotland Yard has confirmed that Ian Edmondson, a former news editor for the News of the World, and Neville Thurlbeck, the paper’s chief reporter, were arrested on Tuesday morning after they turned themselves in at two separate police stations in London. They remain in custody on suspicion of "unlawful interception of voicemail messages." Edmondson was suspended in January for allegedly hacking into Sienna Miller's phone. He continues to deny any wrongdoing. Both Thurlbeck and Edmondson have been implicated in the scandal through documents seized from Glenn Mulcaire, the paper's former private investigator, who was sentenced to jail in 2007 with former royal editor Clive Goodman for hacking. Charges have not been brought against Thurlbeck and Edmondson and they both deny involvement in any criminal activity.
